'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from distance, and the defender promptly hammered in the deflection before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with fans congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an unbelievable comeback given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a upcoming fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team played positively.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It requires a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At the London club he reunited with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
