Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while officials has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the urban area came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to spot.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
