Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former trainer his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.
He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to create a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
