Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
